  • Full Time Ketamine Registered Nurse - $35/hr

    The role of the RN will include clinical oversight of ketamine infusions as well as patient relationship development and care coordination.

    We treat patients who have depression, PTSD, mood conditions, chronic pain (migraine pain, neuropathic pain), and possible opioid use disorders.  Using various modalities, we aim to decrease depression, anxiety, chronic pain, opioid use, and improve function, productivity, and quality of life.

    Your primary responsibility will be managing IV Ketamine Treatments while under the supervision of an onsite anesthesiologist where you will deliver IV infusions on numerous patients throughout the day and monitor patients before, during, and after treatment

    We are looking for RN's who are very confident in their IV skills and who are team players who want to contribute toward significant improvement in the lives of patients.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Provides compassionate nursing care to patients, comfortable with possible long-term clinical relationships with patients
    • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards and under the direct supervision of a physician
    • Facilitation of regular communication among patients, clinic physicians, mental healthcare providers (therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, primary care physicians), and other health care providers
    • Sets up infusion pumps with appropriate units and/or rates for each medication, specific to each patient per protocol
    • Initiates and maintains IV infusions including ketamine, as well as possible propofol, vasopressin, and other agents as prescribed
    • Closely monitors patients including their sedation level, blood pressure and pulse, oxygen saturation, end-tidal CO2, respiratory rate, bladder volume, and possible side effects and assists them with their overall comfort
    • Ability to access ports, PICC lines and start IV's
    • Effectively and promptly treats any side effects from a patient's treatment including changes in their central nervous system (hallucinations, delirium, anxiety, headaches, other), circulatory, respiratory, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, or urinary systems within their scope of practice in accordance with clinic protocols
    • Treats urinary retention per clinic protocol with possible urinary catheterization
    • Assists the MD with daily tasks, including assisting in obtaining medical and psychiatric history
    • Oversees infusion rooms including the re-stocking of treatment areas
    • Maintain accurate anesthesia/sedation record in EMR
    • Displays an understanding of each patient’s cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturity in assessments, treatment, and care
    • Assists with maintenance and organization of clinical supplies and medications including ordering, storage and inventory
    • Ensures controlled substance policy is followed including storage, inventory, and wastage
    • Takes part in pre and post-infusion phone calls, and communicates any problems to the physician
    • Assists with clinical oversight for patient administration of Esketamine
    • Safely provide intramuscular injections if prescribed
    • Maintain competencies in conscious sedation administration and monitoring of the sedated patient. Including airway protection, assessment and support of sedated patients
    • Expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique and universal precautions
    • Assesses, anticipates and implements appropriate care throughout the infusion process

    Requirements

    EDUCATION/LICENSURE:  Completion of an accredited nursing program and a Tennessee state RN license

    EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Pre-Op Registered Nurseworks in collaboration with the anesthesia physician to assess the physical needs of the surgical patients and implement a plan of care. Orders, interprets, and reports clinical test results to the physician prior to surgery. Submits medication orders required, documents patient conditions, and provides patients with an overview on the form of anesthesia to be used and educates them on the upcoming procedures.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Minimum of two years nursing experience in critical care/ICU
    • Completion of an accredited nursing program, certification in critical care, and a Tennessee state RN license
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

    • Compiles scheduling information from computer, hardcopy schedules, and surgeons’ offices to obtain surgery dates, procedures, patient contact information, and appointment times.
    • Gathers previous medical records including cardiac and/or pulmonary testing and other anesthesia records, prepare copies for current surgical records, and forward to appropriate departments as necessary.
    • Obtains pre-admission medical histories and physical data on surgical patients through personal interviews via telephone or in-person to determine anesthesia delivery plan.
    • Evaluates and determines current health status noting medications prescribed and frequency of dosages.
    • Provides interpretations on medical status, records data collected, and provides reports to physicians.
    • Prepares copies and compiles anesthesia packets including company history, anesthesia orders, and consent forms as required.
    • Follows instructions provided by physicians in preparing the patients for surgery.
    • Completes anesthesia physicians’ orders for appropriate lab tests and medications required for specific procedures
    • Reviews and interprets lab test results and provides guidance on pre-admission treatments.

    Job Description

    • Efficiently and professionally resolve Insurance accounts analyzing and reviewing for payment resolution, working all assigned rejections and denials.
    • Professionally answer incoming telephone calls from Payers and patients providing answers to questions and concerns about billing statements. Return all unanswered calls within 24 hours of receipt.
    • Provide status on all claims within 30 to 45 days of claim filing date by calling Insurance or checking online.
    • Handle all correspondence within 1 week of receipt.
    • Prepare and sends written appeals when necessary with appropriate documentation.
    • Follow up on active status reports and process refund in a timely fashion.
    • Work exception reports, review EOB’s for correct contract payment.
    • Contact Insurance for correct reimbursement either by a telephone call or sending a provider dispute form.
